July 14th 2012

July 14 is the 195th day of the year! But that's irrelevant here! What matters today is that It's Bastille Day! Bon 14 Juillet à toutes et à tous! I just said that I wish a good day to everybody!
Bastille Day is the name given to the French National Day, which is celebrated on this very same day today (July 14th then) each year. In France, it is formally called La Fête Nationale (The National Celebration) and commonly Le quatorze juillet (the fourteenth of July). It commemorates  the first anniversary of the storming of the Bastille on 14 July 1789 and the reconciliation of all the French inside the constitutional monarchy which preceded the First Republic, during the French Revolution. Festivities and official ceremonies are held all over France. The oldest and largest regular military parade in Europe is held on the morning of 14 July, on the Champs-Élysées avenue in Paris in front of the President of the Republic, French officials and foreign guests.
But does someone knows what's happening on this day in the South East of France? Because It is always about Paris , but there is not only Paris in France, is it?
Well since I am from the French Riviera and  I am currently there I am going to tell you!
Every year in the evening there are fireworks launched from boats on the sea in every city of the Riviera and It's magical.
This special day has put us in a francophile mood. It reminded us of all the reasons why we love France.
Is it the Haute Couture? le Festival de Cannes, the Champagne , the wines, LVMH? What is it?
Or is it that effortless sexyness look that most of French women just magically seem to possess? Maybe it’s just the sheer luxury of all things French. Or is it the top luxury brands,or that the luxury pervades French culture. New York has sporty and cool, London has experimental, Milan has quirky classics, and Paris has over-the-top, no-holds-barred Fashion.
So what would you do today to celebrate compatriotes?
Today my friends and  I went to the Vieux Nice to have a  "Crêpe au nutella" which is crepes with nutella since we haven't ate all day long and It was 5pm.

Then we went to the beach meeting other people and we picnicked watching fireworks!
Then we attended The Prom' Party (party on the Promenade des Anglais) to listen to music.
Then we got hungry so we went to the Vieux Nice, Old Nice to have an Italian gelato
